Good morning students. Today, we are going to learn about something very important: the role of the Qur’an in shaping the belief, law, and daily life of Muslims. The Qur’an is not just a holy book that we recite, but it is the complete guidance from Allah for every part of our lives. It helps us with what to believe, how to live, and how to behave with others.
Let’s start with belief. The Qur’an tells us the main things we must believe in: the oneness of Allah, the prophets, the Day of Judgment, and life after death. For example, in Sura al-Ikhlas, Allah says, “He is Allah, the One.” This is the core of Islam—believing that there is only one God. The Qur’an also talks about the prophets before Muhammad (peace be upon him), reminding us that Allah has always guided people. And it tells us about the Day of Judgment, when every little good or bad deed will matter. This belief gives Muslims hope and also a sense of responsibility in life.
Next, the Qur’an shapes law, or Shari‘ah. It doesn’t give us every small detail like a rule book, but it gives us the framework. For worship, it commands us to pray, give zakat, fast, and perform Hajj. For justice in society, it talks about honesty, fairness, and punishments for crimes. For family life, it explains matters like inheritance, marriage, and divorce. For example, it clearly sets out how inheritance should be divided among children. In this way, the Qur’an balances between our spiritual duties and our responsibilities to others in society.
Now let’s look at how the Qur’an guides daily life. It is not only about big laws but also about small, everyday actions. It tells us to be honest, kind, and respectful. You may have heard this verse in Friday sermons: “Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression.” That means in our daily life—whether it’s how we talk to parents, treat our friends, or even how we spend money—we should follow these values. The Qur’an even gives guidance on lifestyle, like avoiding alcohol, gambling, and encouraging modesty. These things protect us and keep society healthy.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also reminded us about the Qur’an’s importance. He said: “I leave behind me two things, the Qur’an and my Sunnah. If you follow them, you will never go astray.” This shows that the Qur’an is not just to be recited, but to be lived by. He also said: “The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” So, learning and living by the Qur’an is a lifelong journey.
To sum up, students: the Qur’an is the foundation of our belief, the main source of our law, and the guide for our daily life. It shapes what we believe in, how we behave, and how we organize society. Supported by the Sunnah, the Qur’an is like a compass—it shows us the direction to live a good life in this world and succeed in the Hereafter.
