Good morning students. Today we are going to talk about a very important part of our faith — belief in angels. Just like we believe in Allah, His books, and His prophets, believing in angels is also a basic article of faith in Islam. Without this belief, our faith is incomplete. Angels are unseen beings created from light, and unlike humans or jinn, they do not eat, drink, sleep, or sin. They have no free will. Their only job is to obey Allah and carry out His commands.

Now, what makes angels special? The Qur’an says they never disobey Allah and always do what they are told. We can’t normally see them, but they can appear in forms when Allah allows. For example, Angel Jibril once came in the form of a man in white to teach the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and the companions about faith.

Let’s go through some of their main duties. First, the most famous role is Jibril, who brought revelation, including the Qur’an, to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Then there are the angels called Kiraman Katibin who sit on our right and left, recording every good and bad deed we do. This means nothing we say or do is missed. Another important duty is taking souls at the time of death. The Angel of Death and his helpers carry this out. There are also angels who protect people by Allah’s command, and angels who pray for forgiveness for believers. And on the other side, some angels are responsible for punishing disbelievers and guarding Hellfire.

Some angels have very specific roles. For example, Jibril delivers revelation, Mika’il is in charge of rain and sustenance, Israfil will blow the trumpet on the Day of Judgment, Munkar and Nakir question people in the grave, and of course, Malak al-Mawt is the Angel of Death. This shows us how organized Allah’s system is — every angel has a role.

Why is belief in angels so important for us? The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, explained that true faith means believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine decree. This means rejecting angels is not an option — it is part of iman.

But belief in angels is not just theory; it affects how we live. For example, knowing that angels are recording our actions should make us think twice before lying, cheating, or gossiping. Being aware that the Angel of Death can come at any time reminds us that life is short and we must prepare for the Hereafter. Believing in angels also gives us comfort. In the Battle of Badr, Allah sent angels to help the Muslims. This shows us that even when we feel alone, Allah’s unseen help is there.

So, to summarize, angels are pure beings created from light, who never disobey Allah. Their roles include delivering revelation, recording deeds, taking souls, protecting believers, and praying for them. Believing in angels reminds us of accountability, gives us comfort, and strengthens our faith. By keeping this belief strong, we live with more mindfulness, patience, and trust in Allah.
