This qualification builds on what students learned in Cambridge IGCSE Biology (or an equivalent qualification). 

It covers both theoretical concepts and practical skills, with a strong emphasis on advanced practical work. 

The syllabus is structured so that the AS Level (first half) contains foundational topics, and the A Level (full two years) adds more advanced content. 

Aims of the Course

Students following this syllabus will be enabled to:

Acquire knowledge and understanding of biology, including how biological systems work. 

Develop practical skills: being accurate, safe, efficient in scientific investigations. 

Apply the scientific method; appreciate the strengths and limitations of scientific models and theories. 

Develop skills in data analysis, evaluation, drawing conclusions. 

Communicate biological ideas clearly using correct terminology and scientific conventions. 

Understand the ethical, environmental, and societal implications of biology. 

Foster curiosity, enjoyment, and interest in biology, possibly inspiring further study.
