Good morning students. Today, we are going to talk about Belief in the Holy Books—one of the most important Articles of Faith in Islam. Just like we believe in Allah and His angels, we must also believe that Allah revealed books to guide humanity. These books were not just ordinary writings; they were Allah’s direct guidance for people in different times and situations.

Allah sent many scriptures throughout history. Let me give you the main ones we know about. First, the Suhuf, or scrolls, given to Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Musa. Then the Tawrat, or Torah, given to Prophet Musa, which contained laws for the Israelites. The Zabur, or Psalms, given to Prophet Dawud, full of praises and prayers. The Injil, or Gospel, revealed to Prophet Isa, which gave guidance and renewed the law for his people. And finally, the Qur’an, revealed to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, which is the last and complete revelation for all of humanity until the Day of Judgment.

Now, what was the purpose of these books? They had a few key roles. They gave guidance—showing people how to live according to Allah’s will. They gave laws—rules about family, society, trade, and worship. They taught wisdom and morals—how to be good, honest, and just. And they gave warnings and glad tidings—reminding people about the Hereafter, about punishment for wrongdoers, and rewards for the faithful.

Among all these books, the Qur’an holds a very special place. It is the final revelation, the one that confirms and completes all the earlier scriptures. The difference is, earlier books were changed or lost over time, but Allah Himself has promised to preserve the Qur’an. That’s why today we can say with certainty that the Qur’an we recite is exactly the same as the one revealed to the Prophet 1,400 years ago.

This doesn’t mean we ignore the earlier books. As Muslims, we believe that the Tawrat, Zabur, and Injil were originally from Allah, but we don’t rely on their current forms because humans changed them. That’s why the Qur’an is now the only perfect guide we follow.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, also reminded us of this in a hadith: true faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and divine decree. So, believing in the revealed books is part of being a complete Muslim.

Now let’s think about how this belief affects us practically. First, it strengthens our faith—because we know Allah has always cared for humanity by sending guidance. Second, it teaches us respect for all prophets and their followers—so we can be tolerant towards Jews, Christians, and others. Third, it pushes us to obey the Qur’an—not just by reading it, but by living according to its teachings. And lastly, it builds accountability—because the Qur’an constantly reminds us of the Day of Judgment.

So, to quickly summarize: Belief in holy books is a key part of our faith. Allah revealed many scriptures, but the Qur’an is the final and preserved book for all people until the end of time. It is our complete guide for worship, morality, law, and preparing for the Hereafter.
