Good morning students. Today, we’re going to talk about the most important part of Islam — belief in Allah. This belief is called Tawhid, which means believing in the oneness of Allah. It is the foundation of our faith. Just like a building needs strong foundations to stand, our religion needs belief in Allah as its base. Without it, nothing else in Islam — like prayer, fasting, or zakat — has any meaning.
Now, what does belief in Allah actually mean? It means we believe that Allah is the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Master of the universe. Nothing happens without His will. He gave us life, provides us with food, health, and everything we have. The Qur’an reminds us: “O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous” (2:21). This makes us humble, because we realize we are always in need of Allah. Think of it like charging your phone — without electricity, your phone is dead. In the same way, without Allah, nothing in the universe can exist or survive.
Another part of belief in Allah is knowing His beautiful names and attributes. Allah is Al-‘Alim, the All-Knowing; Ar-Rahman, the Most Merciful; and Al-‘Adl, the Most Just. These names show us His power and His mercy. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, told us that whoever understands and acts on Allah’s 99 names will enter Paradise. For example, if we know that Allah is All-Seeing, we will think twice before doing something wrong. It’s like when you know your teacher is watching — you behave better. Belief in Allah makes us live with awareness that He is always watching.
The most important part of Tawhid is worshipping Allah alone. That means we do not pray to idols, people, or saints — only Allah. All acts of worship like prayer, fasting, charity, or dua are for Him. Associating partners with Allah, which is called shirk, is the greatest sin. The Qur’an warns us that Allah may forgive many sins, but shirk is very serious. This shows how important it is to keep our worship pure.
Belief in Allah also means accepting that everything happens by His will and decree. Sometimes we face problems — failing a test, getting sick, or losing something we love. At other times, we succeed and feel happy. A believer knows that both good and bad come from Allah’s wisdom. The Prophet said: “What has missed you was never meant to reach you, and what has reached you was never meant to miss you.” This belief helps us stay patient in tough times and grateful in good times.
Finally, belief in Allah is not just about theory — it affects our daily lives. It makes us moral, honest, and responsible. If we know Allah sees us everywhere, we are less likely to cheat, lie, or hurt others. It also gives us peace of heart, because we trust Allah with our worries. The Qur’an says: “Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (13:28). Just like listening to your favorite calming song relaxes you, remembering Allah brings comfort to your soul.
So, to wrap up, belief in Allah is the first pillar of faith and the foundation of Islam. It means accepting His oneness, believing in His names and attributes, worshipping Him alone, trusting His power and decree, and letting this faith guide our character and daily life. If we truly believe in Allah, we live with love, fear, and hope — and that’s what makes our faith strong.
